Top 5 Reads of 2020

One of the pros of being a self employed creative in a global pandemic is the free time. I’ve filled mine with procrastinating, eating, long baths/dog walks/talks with my sisters & lots of lovely books. Here’s my top 5 (because let’s face it, there’s probably more free time to come yet).

1. Kill All Normies - Angela Nagle

Bad Bitch writes essay about Alt R, Alt L and all the ugliness in between.

2. My Struggle, Books 1 to 6 - Karl Ove Knausgaard

Talented, depressed writer documents his hashtag Dad life in excruciatingly minute detail. Slags off whole family along the way, now has no pals. All in the name of literary success.

3. This Mournable Body - Tsitsi Dangarembga

Middle aged Zimbabwean woman loses money & status whilst gaining a moral backbone.

4. Sudden Traveller - Sarah Hall

Short, rich stories about what it is to be woman (tough & great apparently).

5. The War Of Art - Steven Pressfield

A military style kick up the ass to get your work done. For loosey goosey creatives (me) who keep their own hours. Probably a great book to start 2021 with.

Other greats included in the artwork are:

Burnt Sugar - Avni Doshi

Measure What Matters - John Doerr
